About the title of this weblog...

With all due respect to Liz Gilbert, the name for this weblog has nothing at all whatsoever to do with her bestselling book and subsequent movie.

Here's the story:
When I was working as a stage manager and living all over the country, I got in the habit of packing one or two small items that I could put on the walls in whatever anonymous rooms or apartment I lived in.  One item was a set of fairy lights, so I could always have good lighting.  The other was a large piece of paper with the words Bike Write Travel Eat Cook Love* written firmly across the page.

The theory behind the words was that these are the important parts of my life- the ones not to lose sight of.  A reminder, if you will, of where my priorities lay.

Later, as a surprise, my dear friend Shawna got one of my favorite authors to inscribe a book with those same words!  Super neat!  Really, ultimately, amazingly cool!

Fast forward a few years.  I met my then-boyfriend/now-husband and we biked across South America.  We got tons of great feedback on our weblog that we kept (now defunct thanks to management changes at the host magazine) and I realized I missed communicating in this format.  I had been keeping up a cooking weblog called Chiligirl, and even making cookbooks out of the contents, but I knew it was time to let Chiligirl go.  I wanted to talk about more than just food. What about all those wonderful mountain biking trips we went on?  What about the skiing?

Thus was Bike Write Travel Eat Cook Love born.

*In all honesty, there was an expletive included too, but it just wouldn't do to post that.  No sir.
